About SoupUhMan TCG

Every store starts somewhere.

Ours starts with a simple observation: when you sit down at a Commander table, two things get noticed before a single card is drawn. The Commander you're running, and your playmat.

Your Commander tells people how you think. Your playmat tells people who you are.

We're SoupUhMan TCG, a brand new store with a clear vision and a lot of passion for this game. We're working toward our first sales and building something we believe in deeply enough to stake a business on.

I'm Austin, the person behind SoupUhMan TCG. A Commander player first, a store owner second, and someone who got tired of seeing the same generic playmats at every table.

Why This Aesthetic

When we started thinking about playmats, we kept coming back to the same question: what art actually belongs on a gaming table?

Not art that shouts. Not art that tries too hard. Art that has weight. Art that makes someone across the table lean in and ask where you got it.

We landed on 19th century classical and gothic illustration. Gustave Doré. Baroque masters. Engraving traditions that predate Magic: The Gathering by over a century, yet feel like they were made for it. The same dark drama, the same mythic scale, the same sense that something ancient and powerful is at work.

This isn't a random aesthetic choice. It's a deliberate one. The Commander format attracts players who think carefully about their decks, their art choices, their table presence. We're building for that player.

Built for Players Who Notice

We're not trying to be the loudest brand at the table. We're building for the player who appreciates when something is done with intention. The Commander player who curates their deck like a collection. The Silverquill mage who cares about aesthetics as much as strategy.

If you're one of the first people to find us, thank you. Early supporters of any small brand are the ones who make it possible to keep going, and we don't take that lightly.

If the art speaks to you, we'd love to have you at the table.

My Favorite Commander: Jolly Balloon Man

Away from the store, I'm a Commander player through and through. My favorite Commander right now is Jolly Balloon Man, and honestly he says everything about how I approach the game. There's something about a Commander that makes the whole table underestimate you right up until the moment you win that just never gets old. He's chaotic, he's fun, and he rewards the kind of creative thinking that makes Commander the best format in Magic.

If you run him too, we're already friends.
